Remember this?

Yeah, I'm pretty darned pleased with it myself!
Sunday I removed the doors, Monday I borrowed Heidi's wood glue and clamps and glued and clamped that fractured leg. :) Thank you Heidi for the use of your wood glue so I didn't have to make an extra stop and for the use of your wonderful clamps.
Wednesday I did some sanding and removed the little wooden triangles that were in place from where the doors would hit.
Thursday I had the day off (it was glorious and productive!) and I primed the sideboard with an oil based primer thanks to Deb's advice. She is my new mentor and I would have not known I needed to use an oil based primer to go over finished wood without her telling me when I asked for her opinion. :) You can check out her blog at http://hummadeedledee.blogspot.com/. She is wonderfully creative and inspiring and if I ask her, she shares her secrets and tips she's learned along the way. What a peach!
Anyway, while the primer was drying, I did another BIG deal project (but it wasn't hard) that I will write about soon.
Then a coat of the off-white paint that brothers set me up with. Thanks Big and Little Brothers for the awesome Mautz paint! It truly was nice paint and they let me use what was left in a 5 gallon bucket and even loaned me one of those roller tray thingies you hang on that big bucket - SLICK! Not to mention a nicer roller than I normally use.
A coat on the entire piece and a second coat before and after dinner and voila! I'm pleased as punch with my FREE find from last Saturday. Honestly, this is the fastest and cheapest I've ever done a project thanks to having the primer I needed here in the house already and the loaned paint from brothers! I was highly motivated. Now I'd like to get new hardware for the drawer. I looked at Menard's and saw some I loved for $6 each. Will wait a bit on the hardware, the old stuff just doesn't do it for me with this soft white.
I still need to sand it a little here and there to look rubbed and worn and then per Deb (again), rub some wax onto the top surface to protect it from lots of use.
I almost hate to hide it away down here in the basement, but I get to see it every day and smile. Now my next find will hopefully be some sort of attractive baskets to go on the "shelf" where the doors used to be. Then I can move my wool down here too.
Thanks for looking! This was the funnest project so far!
p.s. Also, while the primer was drying and after the OTHER project I did, BFF Heidi came over with lunch to feed me! Complete with diet cokes! She got us lunch from Burrito Union (one of our favorite places) and we enjoyed and laughed in the breakfast nook while all our kids were in school - AWESOME time!
